There’s Something Besides Fire To Contend With Here!

So as I mentioned earlier in this roundtable, my son has been really into the Marston/Peter Wonder Woman. So I asked him if there was a panel he’d like to draw from Wonder Woman #28. He picked this one.

And here’s his version of it.

I figured I’d draw it as well. Here’s mine:

My son looked at it and said, “that’s a mess.” My wife looked at it and said, “her chin seems a bit prominent, doesn’t it?”

Everybody’s a critic.

  1. Aw, I find the first one especially charming. Look at that boot–he supplied the end of the figure and it’s got real power behind it. Kind of agree about the chin, though, but I do like the eyebrows–very Peter!

  2. They’re all great! That first panel made realize one reason why I like Peter’s art so much; the fluidity and strength of the linework reminds of Chester Gould, my favorite newspaper comics artist.

And your son really captures the lunging power of Wonder Woman’s move, the entwining menace of the flames. That it’s not outlined and filled in with color gives it a Fauve-ish flavor…

I thought that “style” looked familiar. I totally forgot that Noah’s son is a Waldorf student until you pointed out the solid colors. Did he use block crayons?
