Alt-country/psychedelia — Mazzy Star’s new album, their first in 17 (!) years
And, against my better judgement, I bought that Elvis Costello collaboration, from a few years back, with that NOLA jazz dude…ugh. I stopped listening after the first three tracks, out of embarrassment. Need to listen all the way through before I can tell whether it’s in fact worse than his Bacharach collaboration, or is merely horribly awful.
I need to listen to the Mazzy Star; my wife has it but haven’t borrowed it from her yet.
Summer jams playlist. It’s not actually what I’ve been listening to but I finally finished it today.
I will recommend Busy Signal – Same Way and (Jersey’s very own) Sharaya J – Smash Up the Place (directed by Missy Elliot) to you guys.
I should put my playlists on 8tracks or something, the ads on Youtube are kinda irritating and mess up the flow.
Actually can I make that Sharaya J – Banji? Seems more authentic to the performer. There’s a bit of Smash Up the Place at the end, too.
“Peel Me a Grape” – Anita O’Day http://youtu.be/lA6XRttQujk
I have a sweet tooth for songs about being a high-maintainance golddigger for reasons I’m not sure I want to dig into.
“Changes” – Sugar http://youtu.be/9dDXsiDQquk
It just rawks.
